It’s always a pleasure to show a potential new customer one of our previous projects that has been in operation for several years. Last week, we visited the Završnica dam and reservoir in the beautiful Gorenjska region of Slovenia in the company of three engineers from the UK. The visit was kindly hosted by Savske Elektrarne Ljubljana d.o.o. Dyrhoff supplied the four identical Obermeyer spillway gates that sit atop the concrete and masonry dam that was built between 1911 and 1914. Each gate is 1.0m high when fully closed and 7.3m wide and they were added to the existing structure in 2018. Many thanks to Matej Šturm of SEL for arranging the visit and for spending time explaining the details of how the facility operates and how the spillway gates enhance power generation at this location.
