We are on site in the USA this week commissioning two rubber dams for the Lock and Dam 14 small hydroelectric project on the Kentucky river near Heidelberg. The 10ft (3.05m) high, 52ft (15.9m) wide downstream rubber dam provides the head for the 3030kw output Voith StreamDiver turbines while the upstream rubber dam will normally be deflated when the power plant is in operation and is used only as a cofferdam for future maintenance work. Similar hydroelectric projects are planned at other Lock and Dam locations on the same river.
