Dyrhoff has an active R&D program and has been granted patents on several design innovations which have been utilised in the field:

Dam Height Measuring and Vibration Monitoring System

Our patented dam height measuring and vibration monitoring system which provides the ability to monitor in real time both the height and shape of a rubber dam whilst in operation. The cross-sectional shape and height of a rubber dam varies continuously with changing external water levels and internal pressure. In addition, a variety of operational factors may cause vibration of the rubber dam body which might lead to wear and/or delamination of the membrane material and even premature failure. The new dam monitoring system can detect vibration and adjust the inner pressure to help mitigate its effect on the rubber dam and to provide a unique opportunity for the operator to continuously monitor and control the rubber dam in a safe and efficient manner.

Dyrhoff Patented Deflector System

Traditional deflectors bonded directly to rubber membranes can cause the outer rubber layer to peel away from the fabric if struck by large river-borne debris. The Dyrhoff deflector, however, is designed to detach from its base under impact, protecting the membrane.

The deflector base consists of two V-shaped plates encased in rubber, while the deflector itself is a standard rubber cleat that is simple and quick to replace. During installation, the base is cold-vulcanized to the rubber membrane, and the cleat is then inserted into the base, ensuring a secure yet resilient setup.

Rubber Sheets for Greater Durability and Vandal Resistance

Dyrhoff can provide a specially reinforced rubber sheet for projects where the dam may be exposed to sharp debris or potential vandalism. The rubber sheet can be manufactured with stainless steel wire mesh, ceramic chips, or aramid layers, depending on the required level of protection. Stainless steel mesh offers strong resistance to cutting and tearing, while ceramic chips add toughness against sharp impacts and vandalism. Aramid layers increase overall strength and help prevent damage from punctures. These reinforcement options allow Dyrhoff to customize the rubber sheet to the specific risks of each project, improving durability and ensuring long-term performance.
